Hand washing
A basic and necessary precaution for stopping the spread of germs is hand-washing. Regularly washing hands with warm water and soap, and then drying with a sanitary towel can eliminate germs and bacteria.
CPR
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, known as C-P-R, is used to restore normal breathing and heartbeat after cardiac arrest. All states mandate that childcare providers be trained in basic first aid as well as this emergency treatment.
Medication administration
Occasionally, children are healthy enough to attend daycare, but need to receive medication. Before a caregiver can administer any prescription or over-the-counter medicine, parents must sign a permission slip.
Tin can toys
Are you and your children interested in recycling? Here are three fun ways to recycle tin cans. This first one is a version of stilts. Take two large cans and several feet of rope.
Helping with homework
In public schools, regular homework generally begins by fifth or sixth grade, though short assignments may be given much earlier. Children under ten will usually need the most encouragement; you may have to help them get started, remind them of their study time, and check lessons after they're completed.
